Barn Quilt Sew Along

Have you heard?! Paulette of Sweet P Quilting and Creations is doing a “Where the Cows Come Home” sew along!  We are so excited to see everyone’s blocks as they go along, oops, I mean “sew along!”

Well, we have been dreaming of an all cotton version of this quilt since we wrote the book and we thought this was the perfect excuse and opportunity to make it happen.  If you aren’t familiar with the quilt, the original is wool applique on pieced cotton backgrounds.  We have wanted to show that no matter what you love to work with you can make this quilt!  If you have experience with applique, the pattern can easily be adapted to your favorite method.

Kathy had a fun time auditioning some of her favorite fabrics for Block One, “The Milking Parlor.”

She mixed some new gorgeous yarn dyed Diamond Textiles with some sweet little prints from her stash.  Here is the finished background with her pull for the barn…

And the big reveal!

Didn’t it turn out great?!  Now, it’s your turn!  If you’d like to share your blocks, we’d love to see them!  And make sure you stop by Paulette’s blog for all the details on the stitch along.

  1. Linda from Wisconsin says:

Love this block. I am following the Sew-a-long but won’t be able to start until school is out! Are any of these fabrics the one that were offered on the site with the book? I ordered the fat quarters when I purchase the book from you.

  2. says:

Love your yarn dyed appliqued barn!! It’s a good thing I didn’t see this before I began mine or I would have had a tough decision to make…wool or yarn dyed fabric? (Love them both!) I love this quilt either way, so it’s all good!! It’s so nice to have both options! Can’t wait to see MORE…haha
