Hi Everyone! It’s our week for the Harvest Mystery Quilt Blog Hop!
We are new to the hop this year and are so excited to be participating! Kathy has designed a beautiful block for you, full of Autumn goodness. The block reflects her signature style of wool appliqué on a pieced cotton background. We hope you love it as much as we do!
Welcome to our day on the Summer Time Blog Hop! We are so excited to have you here and we hope that you enjoy our recipe and pattern!
Out here in Southern California our summers can be HOT so we love to include cool, refreshing foods with our meals. This sweet and tangy fruit salad is a great addition to any meal – breakfast, lunch, or dinner and is soooo yummy we even have it for dessert sometime.
We mix mangos, kiwis, and blueberries together and top with a delicious lime syrup and sprinkling of crystalized ginger. Check out Stacy’s blog for the recipe card.
The pattern we have featured today is just as sweet as our tasty fruit salad! A juicy summer strawberry needle keep to hold all of your needles and pins, perfect for those summertime road trips.
Sharing time! Here is a picture of Kathy P.’s beautiful Forget Me Not wool mat that she shared with everyone at the last pin pals’ gathering. I love the contrasting thread she chose to outline the brightly colored wools.
We always love to see how students make The Cottage at Cardiff Farms’ projects their own!
I’m a little behind on updates but here are some pics from the last 2 classes. The first was the February Pin Pals Gathering. There was only one mid-day class instead of one morning and one afternoon so everyone was really packed in! Thankfully, it was a GREAT group of ladies and everyone had a really fun time, I think you can tell by the pictures…
Here are some pictures from yesterday’s wool class. Everyone worked on their own wool project. You can see all the different beautiful designs below…
Thank you to all who participated and made the events fun and productive!!
Last Saturday was the first Pin Pals Gathering of the new year and we had a great turn out! It was so much fun to visit and sew with everyone after taking some time off during the holidays. The new pin cushion design is a cotton rectangle with 3 wool hearts stitched on top. It’s just perfect for Valentine’s Day next month or anytime you want to spread a little sewing love.
What a fun group of ladies!! Thanks for attending and posing for pics!
I just realized how everyone is in their short sleeves and cropped pants trying to beat the heat out here… sorry to all you East coast readers, we wish we could send some sunshine your way!
It’s time for another Pin Pal Gathering at The Country Loft. This is the store in La Mesa California where I teach classes.
I put together a spring time pin rest in the shape of an egg with added applique and I think you’ll love it. It is hand sewn so if you’re coming to class bring your general hand sewing supplies. The kits with the pattern and wool will be ready for you when you get to class.
Can’t you just see this in your sewing room?
If you would like to sign up for class you can contact The Country Loft at 619-466-5411.
Jodi from Chicago was recently here in San Diego and I was so happy to have her in one of my classes. She chose to do one of my small mat designs that had just been published in Primitive Quilts and Projects Spring Issue. Here is her finished mat. Great job Jodi!
Beautiful work. Thank you for sharing your photo. Hope to see you again soon.
What a great time we had in April’s Pin Pal’s class. The morning and afternoon gatherings were combined into one large class so naturally we had twice as much fun!
Look at the super cute kits Mindy put together…
How many Pin Pal’s can you squeeze into The Country Loft?…
WOW! Now that’s a full class! I love how Faith has put her very first Pin Pal’s project to good use…
What a great day!
May is going to be a busy month with the International Quilt Market and Kyle’s (Kathy’s son) wedding so there will not be any Pin Pal’s Gatherings. Please check back soon for a preview of June’s project!
Just in time for Summer’s end, we are featuring a beautiful sunflower pin cushion at this month’s Pin Pals gathering.
The front sunflower in the picture features the kit materials provided for the class: richly textured wools in dark plaid and assorted yellows. The rear pin cushion is debuting our brand new “Sunflower Seeds” buttons available for purchase at The Country Loft. Here’s what you’ll need to bring to the Saturday, September 17 gathering:
sharp scissors – sharp enough to make nice cuts through wool
sewing needle – for stitching through multiple layers with pearl cotton thread
straight pins – at least 12
large safety pins – 2 if you have them
filler for your pin rest – 2 to 2 1/2 cups (I will have saw dust available to Pin Pals but if you want to use a different filler please bring your favorite)
A sewing machine will not be needed this month.
We can’t wait to see all of our regular “pin pals” this Saturday and hope that there will be some new faces as well! For sign-ups and class information please contact The Country Loft.
Hey Everyone! We wanted to give you a preview of the pin cushion project that will be featured at the monthly Pin Pals gathering for July 16 at The Country Loft.
The pin rest features a traditionally pieced top, whimsical red rick-rack trim, and a vintage button center. For those of you already signed up for the class, make sure to bring your sewing machine and general sewing supplies. Please contact The Country Loft if you have any questions. See you soon!!
